The 2nd DFI-PFSF Piling & Ground Improvement Conference is taking place March 23-25, 2020, at International Convention Centre (ICC) Sydney in Australia. The conference — being hosted by Deep Foundations Institute (DFI) and Piling & Foundation Specialists Federation (PFSF) — promotes all aspects of the deep foundations, earth retention and ground improvement works.
The conference features four keynote lectures:
Frances Badelow, State Manager for New South Wales, Mott MacDonald
“Forms of Contracting, Approaches to Risk Sharing and the Impact on Innovation, Productivity and Project Outcomes”
Badelow’s has held technical leadership roles on some of NSW’s most significant infrastructure and development projects, including Barangaroo and Hills M2 Widening, and Melbourne Metro in Victoria. She now leads a multidisciplinary team of over 200, delivering projects such as Southwest Metro Design Services, Victoria Cross Integrated Station Development, More Trains More Services, Garfield Road West and the new Sydney Fish Market.
Jerome Racinais, Engineering Director, Menard
“Building the Foundations of a New City Using Innovative Ground Improvement Strategies – Capital City District”
Racinais is the engineering director and design department manager for the ground improvement specialist company Menard. He is also vice president of the technical committee of the French Society of Soils Mechanics (CFMS) and vice chair of the technical committee TC211 (Ground Improvement).
Samuel Paikowsky, Ph.D., Professor, University of Massachusetts Lowell
“The Application of Dynamic Analyses for Testing of Non-Uniform Deep Foundations”
Dr. Paikowsky is a professor at the University of Massachusetts Lowell and is also the president of GeoDynamica. He has close to 40 years of experience in geotechnical related consulting, research and engineering projects. His expertise is in the field of deep foundations, reliability-based design, testing and analysis, and has been involved in projects worldwide.
Armin Stuedlein, Ph.D., P.E., Associate Professor, Geotechnical Engineering, Oregon State University
“Driven Displacement Pile Ground Improvement for Liquefaction Mitigation”
Dr. Stuedlein is an associate professor in the School of Civil and Construction Engineering at Oregon State University. His research has been published in over 100 peer-reviewed technical publications, and focuses on ground improvement, in-situ and laboratory-based liquefaction testing, soil-structure interaction, and probabilistic geotechnical analyses.
